Egypt aims to double the basic home internet package to 100GB at the same priceEgypt

The basic fixed-line internet package, the 50GB plan many Cairo households start on, is set to double to 100GB at an unchanged price, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said at the closing session of Egypt Forum 2026 on Saturday 24 October. He said the aim is to get subscribers using internet services more.

It was announced as a target. Neither a start date nor the way providers would apply it was given, and the statement did not mention mobile data bundles, which are a separate service.

For now nothing changes on your bill or your quota: the 50GB package keeps its current size until the government or the providers announce when the new allowance starts. When it does, the extra gigabytes should come with the same monthly price, so there is no reason to move to a bigger package in anticipation.
