Egypt's minimum pension to rise to EGP 2,080 a month in January 2027
The lowest monthly pension goes up from EGP 1,755 to EGP 2,080 in January 2027, the head of the National Organization for Social Insurance said at Egypt Forum 2026.
Egypt's minimum monthly pension will rise from EGP 1,755 to EGP 2,080 in January 2027, Gamal Awad, head of the National Organization for Social Insurance, said at Egypt Forum 2026, CairoScene reported on 22 October.
About 380,000 people receive the minimum today: pensioners who completed the 15-year contribution period and paid contributions on the minimum insured wage. Egypt has about 9.5 million pensioners in all.
Awad said future increases have to be weighed against what the insurance system can afford. He did not give the cost of the January rise.
If you or a parent are on the minimum pension, the monthly payment should be EGP 325 higher from January 2027. No application or new paperwork was mentioned with the announcement.
