EgyptAir to fly Cairo to Stockholm direct four times a week from 18 December
EgyptAir will start direct flights between Cairo and Stockholm on 18 December, four times a week on an Airbus A321neo; times and fares are not out yet.
EgyptAir will add Stockholm to its network this winter, with direct flights from Cairo starting on 18 December. The route will run four times a week, on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, CairoScene reported on 26 October, and Ahram Online also reported four weekly flights from December.
The flights will use the Airbus A321neo, the newer, more fuel-efficient version of the single-aisle A321 that EgyptAir has been adding to its fleet. Exact departure and arrival times have not been announced yet, and neither have fares.
EgyptAir first announced the Cairo to Stockholm service in September. Until now, travellers between the two cities have had to change planes on the way, so a direct service cuts out a connection for Egyptians living in Sweden, for Swedish tourists heading to Egypt in the winter season, and for business travellers.
Egypt's ambassador to Sweden and Latvia, Naglaa Naguib, said the new service is expected to support tourism and trade between the two countries.
For Cairo residents, this means a direct way to reach Stockholm from mid-December, just before the Christmas and New Year holidays in Europe. With four flights a week there will be no daily service, so plan around the Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday departures. Booking details, flight times and prices will be on EgyptAir's website and app once the airline publishes the schedule; until then there is nothing to book, so wait for the official timetable rather than paying anyone for an early seat.
