Art D'Egypte, the organisation behind the art shows at the Pyramids and on Al-Muizz Street, is opening a new exhibition called Crafts Re-Imagined at Bayt Al-Suhaimy, the Ottoman-era house on Darb Al-Asfar Alley in Historic Cairo. It runs from 23 October to 8 November 2026 and is presented with CulturValor.

This first edition puts contemporary artists and designers to work directly with Egyptian master craftsmen, and shows pieces they have made together. The crafts on show are woodwork and stone carving, glassblowing, traditional weaving and tapestry, and khayamiya, the tentmakers' appliqué. International artists whose work draws on Egyptian civilisation also take part. The organiser says the aim is to treat these crafts as a living practice rather than a fading tradition, and to open new markets for the artisans.

It follows Re-Imagined Narratives, Art D'Egypte's 2019 show that spread across Al-Muizz Street, but this time the work moves indoors into a single historic house.

The exhibition is open from 23 October. Opening hours, ticket prices and the list of participating artists have not been published yet; check artdegypte.org closer to the date. Bayt Al-Suhaimy is reached on foot from Al-Muizz Street in Gamaleya.
