Temperatures drop on Thursday 15 October, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority said, with mild autumn weather by day across the north of the country down to Greater Cairo and cooler air at night and early in the morning. Youm7's forecast puts Cairo's high at about 28 degrees.

There is a chance of light rain, around 20%, over scattered parts of the southern Delta and the Canal cities that may reach Greater Cairo on and off. Rain is more likely on the north coast, with light to moderate showers around El Alamein, Alexandria, Beheira and Kafr El Sheikh.

Winds of 30 to 40 km/h are expected over most of the country and may raise sand and dust in open parts of Greater Cairo. The sea is rough off the Mediterranean coast, with waves of 2 to 3.5 metres.

If you are out in Cairo today, a light jacket helps for the evening, and anyone with asthma or allergies may want a mask in open areas while the wind is up. Heading to the north coast, expect rain and a rough sea, so check before swimming or taking a boat.
