Tuesday weather: thunderstorm warning in the south, Cairo high of 30
The Meteorological Authority expects warm weather by day in Cairo, a 30% chance of thunderstorms in the far south and Sinai, and morning haze on some roads.
The Egyptian Meteorological Authority expects autumn weather on Tuesday 13 October that turns warm to hot by day from the north coast to Greater Cairo and north Upper Egypt, with very hot weather in the south. Nights are mild and cool towards dawn. Cairo will reach 30 degrees with a low of 20; the New Capital and 6th of October will both reach 31.
Light to moderate rain, sometimes with thunder, is possible on and off over Halaib, Shalateen, Marsa Alam, the far south of Upper Egypt, parts of South Sinai and the Gulf of Aqaba, a chance of about 30%. The authority warns that these storms can bring strong gusts and lightning. Some clouds may pass over the north, Greater Cairo and the Canal cities, with a weak chance of light rain.
Haze is expected from 4 to 8 am on some roads into and out of Greater Cairo, the north, north Upper Egypt, the Canal cities and central Sinai, and it may be thick in places. Wind will be active at times over parts of Greater Cairo and South Sinai.
If you drive early, leave extra distance and slow down on the desert and agricultural roads until about 8 am. In the south and in Sinai, stay away from open ground and valleys if a storm builds. Elsewhere it is a light-layers day: warm at noon, cooler late at night.
