Shakmagiya Tarab sings Baligh Hamdi tonight at Qubbet al-Ghouri

The group led by Ashraf Khamis performs songs by composer Baligh Hamdi on Friday 9 October at 7:30 pm at the Ebdaa Centre in Qubbet al-Ghouri.

The Shakmagiya Tarab ensemble is playing an evening of music by Baligh Hamdi on Friday 9 October at 7:30 pm at the Ebdaa Centre in Qubbet al-Ghouri, on Al-Azhar Street. The concert is organised by the Cultural Development Fund as part of the October victory anniversary programme.

The set list includes "Ya Ahla El Balad Ya Balady", "Tayer Ya Hawa", "Salamat Ya Habayeb", "Garahtni Oyouno El Sooda", "Amar Arbatashar" and "Mata Ashoufak", among other Baligh Hamdi songs.

The group was founded in 2000 by conductor Ashraf Khamis and fellow students to revive classic Arabic songs in group performance, and has played at heritage venues such as Beit El Sehemy and Amir Bashtak Palace. Entry details were not announced.
