How to book Cairo Opera House tickets online

Most Main Hall shows can be booked online through the Opera's own website, which hands you over to Tazkarti. Here is how it works, step by step.

Cairo Opera House, Zamalek

The Cairo Opera House runs a full season of ballet, symphonic music, Arabic music and recitals across several stages, and booking a seat online takes a few minutes once you know where to look. Every step below is taken from the Opera's own website, cairoopera.org.

1. Open the programme: Go to cairoopera.org and choose the concerts page (الحفلات). Each show is listed with its date, time and stage.

2. Pick your show and stage: The Opera's main venue is on Mahmoud Mokhtar Street in Zamalek, with the Main Hall (1,086 seats on four levels), the Small Hall and the Open-Air Theatre. It also runs the Gomhoreya Theatre on Gomhoreya Street and the Arab Music Institute on Ramses Street, both in Downtown, plus stages in Alexandria and Damanhour. Check which one your show is on before you book.

3. Press Book now: On the show's page, press the Book now button (احجز الان). The Opera's FAQ says this is how bookings are made. The button takes you to the show's page on Tazkarti, the ticketing platform, where you choose your seats and pay.

4. If there is no button: Not every listing has one. On 10 October, Main Hall shows such as the Le Corsaire ballet on 14 October and the Cairo Symphony Orchestra on 17 October could be booked online, while some Small Hall evenings had no booking button. For those, the Opera's site does not explain another way to book, so follow the Opera's official social media pages for updates.

5. Before you go: The Opera's website does not publish ticket prices, a dress code or age rules on its main pages, so check them on the Tazkarti page for your show before you pay. The Opera's Zamalek location is on Google Maps through the link in its FAQ.
