Elissa's new album is out today, with three songs by Nader Abdallah

Elissa releases her new album on Thursday 5 November. Egyptian lyricist Nader Abdallah wrote three of its songs, two composed by Tamer Ashour and one by Aziz El Shafei.

Lebanese star Elissa releases her new album on Thursday 5 November, and three of its songs come from one of the longest partnerships in Arabic pop: the Egyptian lyricist Nader Abdallah, who has been writing for her for twenty years. The album's title had not been announced in the report by filfan on Wednesday evening.

The three songs bring in two of Egypt's busiest composers. Battalt Aheb is composed by Tamer Ashour and arranged by Galal Hamdaoui. Weshy Nawar is also composed by Tamer Ashour, with arrangement by Ahmed Ibrahim. Kashf El Hesab is composed by Aziz El Shafei and arranged by Ahmed Ibrahim.

Elissa and Nader Abdallah first worked together in 2006 on Law Taarafouh, from her album Bastanak. Since then he has written dozens of songs for her, among them some of her best-loved hits: Ayami Bik, Baeesh Ala Hesak, Awakher El Shita and Farhana Maak. filfan described the three new songs as a sign of the trust between the two, and of how they keep renewing the partnership as music and audiences change.

For Egyptian listeners the album has a strong local thread. Tamer Ashour is himself one of the most popular singers in Egypt right now, with a Fustat Festival concert on 27 November, and Aziz El Shafei has composed for many of the country's biggest voices.

Elissa's albums usually arrive on the main streaming platforms on release day, so the new songs should be on Anghami, Spotify and YouTube Music from today. The full track list, and any concert dates in Egypt to go with the album, had not been announced.
