Cairo Jazz Festival's last night on Saturday: Fathy Salama's Sharkiat and four more acts
Tickets are still on sale for Saturday 7 November at AUC Tahrir Square, from EGP 500 to EGP 800, with Sharkiat featuring Karima Nayt closing the 18th edition.
The Cairo International Jazz Festival reaches its final night on Saturday 7 November, and tickets for it were still on sale on Tickets Marche this morning. The closing programme at the American University in Cairo's Tahrir Square campus brings together five acts: Fathy Salama's band Sharkiat featuring Karima Nayt, the Guido Spannocchi Quartet, the Xavi Torres Trio, the Manuel Linhares Quartet, and Bächlin and Elkholy.
Tickets for the night cost from EGP 500 to EGP 800 depending on the seat, and the main concerts are in Ewart Memorial Hall. Anyone who wants all three days can no longer use most of the full pass, which cost EGP 1,000 for 5 to 7 November, so a single-night ticket is the way in now.
This is the festival's 18th edition, back at AUC Tahrir, its long-standing home, with extra concerts at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. Artists from 12 countries are taking part this year: Egypt, Austria, Algeria, Denmark, Italy, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and the UK. Alongside the concerts there are workshops, talks and activities for children.
If you are going on Saturday, book on Tickets Marche before you head out, since the seller lists the night's tickets by price band and the cheaper ones usually go first. The campus entrance is at 113 Kasr El Aini Street in Downtown; Sadat metro station on Tahrir Square is the easiest way to get there, as parking around the square is hard on a weekend night.
