Zamalek is getting a taste of the Greek islands this month. Le Pacha 1901, the restaurant boat moored on the Nile in Zamalek, is holding a Greek Night at Cloud 24, its rooftop restobar, on Saturday 21 November, Scene Eats reported.

The evening runs from 8:30pm until midnight. The menu leans on Greek favourites, from souvlaki and tzatziki to dishes built around feta, and the music comes from the Greek singer Stella Georgiadou, who performs live through the night.

Cloud 24 sits on top of the boat and is one of the better known rooftops on this stretch of the river. On its own page, Le Pacha describes it as a semi open-air restobar with a panoramic Nile view, air conditioning and room for 300 guests, serving an international à la carte menu and open every day from 2pm until late. Le Pacha 1901 itself is one of Zamalek's oldest night-out addresses: a floating complex of restaurants and bars that the company says brings together a dozen award-winning chefs, with its own catering, delivery and special events arms.

Themed nights like this have become a regular part of Cairo's rooftop calendar as the weather cools in November, and a Greek evening has a particular pull in a city with a long Greek history, from Alexandria to the old Greek communities of downtown Cairo.

If you are going: the price of the night has not been announced, so check when you book. Reservations go through Le Pacha's website or its Instagram account, @lepachazamalek. Cloud 24's house rules apply: the dress code is smart casual and children are not allowed. Arrive early if you want a table on the river side, as the rooftop fills up on Saturday nights.
