Rigash, the Egyptian fashion label founded by Lamia Rady in 2020, releases its first eveningwear line on Saturday 7 November. The line is called Rigash Studio, and it is a limited ready-to-wear capsule: the pieces come in standard sizing, and once they sell out the brand says there will be no restock. On the label's own website, the Rigash Studio link already leads to a "coming soon" page ahead of the drop.

Rigash made its name with unconventional shapes, corsets and sharp modern tailoring rather than gowns, so this is a new direction for the brand. Its pieces have travelled far for a Cairo label: Ariana Grande has worn one of its asymmetric corsets, Selena Gomez a pleated leather skirt, and the Jamaican artist Shenseea a silver vinyl bralette on stage at Rolling Loud.

The new capsule moves between short, playful dresses and full-length sculptural gowns. The pieces shown so far include a black sequin dress with a plunging neckline and an open back, a pink beaded dress finished with tattered bows, a blue sequinned suit, a balloon skirt and dresses with feathered sleeves. The pink dress alone mixes two sequin fabrics with three different chiffons and taffetas, which gives an idea of how much work goes into each piece.

Prices for Rigash Studio have not been published. For a sense of where the label sits, a fringed wrap dress from its existing range is listed on its website at EGP 2,610 on sale. Rigash sells online, and its site also offers studio appointments for anyone who wants to see the clothes in person.

The timing suits the season. November and December are Cairo's busiest months for weddings, engagement parties, galas and end-of-year evenings, and locally made eveningwear in standard sizes, bought off the rail rather than made to measure, is still a small part of what Egyptian designers offer.

If you want a piece, watch rigash.com from Saturday 7 November, when the capsule goes on sale. Because the run is limited and will not be restocked, the popular sizes are likely to go first. Prices and delivery details will be on the product pages; if you prefer to try before you buy, book a studio appointment through the same website.
