El Leila El Kebira puppet show comes to Theatro Arkan in Zayed on 14 November
The original El Leila El Kebira puppet show plays Theatro Arkan in Sheikh Zayed on Saturday 14 November at 8pm, for ages 4 and up. Tickets run from EGP 550 to EGP 1,050.
West Cairo families get their own night of El Leila El Kebira. The original puppet show, billed as El Leila El Kebeera: The Original Show, plays Theatro Arkan in Sheikh Zayed on Saturday 14 November, a fortnight after its 31 October date at Teatro 90 in New Cairo.
El Leila El Kebira has been part of Egypt's shared memory for more than 60 years: the puppet operetta set at a village mawlid, with Salah Jahin's words and Sayed Mekkawy's music, that generations know by heart from the stage and from television. The Tickets Marche page sells the Zayed night as a family celebration of Egyptian heritage, full of nostalgia and the characters people grew up watching.
Theatro Arkan is inside Arkan Plaza in Sheikh Zayed, and it has become one of West Cairo's main stages for plays and concerts, with parking and food on site.
Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm. Every child needs a full ticket from the age of 4, and children under 4 are not allowed in. No food or drinks can be taken into the theatre, and cameras are not allowed.
There are five tiers on Tickets Marche: Wings at EGP 550, Silver at EGP 650, Gold at EGP 750, Platinum at EGP 850 and VIP at EGP 1,050. A family of four in Gold seats pays EGP 3,000. Arrive by 7:30pm to find parking at Arkan Plaza on a Saturday evening and settle the children before the curtain.
