Hussein Yasser and Abyusif team up again on the pop track Ya Bent El Maganeen
Egyptian artist-producer Hussein Yasser and rapper Abyusif have a new joint song, Ya Bent El Maganeen, which swaps their usual edge for bouncy Egyptian pop.
Egyptian artist and producer Hussein Yasser and rapper Abyusif have reunited on a new song, Ya Bent El Maganeen, Scene Noise reported on 2 November. It is a lighter turn for both: a bouncy Egyptian pop groove rather than the darker rap and rock both names are usually linked with.
Yasser produced the track himself. It opens on upbeat drums and short, punchy synth chords, then grows busier as it goes, with detailed drum fills and effects, before slipping into more experimental passages of grainy, melodic synths. His own vocals are heavily processed, which keeps the sound close to the electronic side of his production work.
Abyusif, one of the region's best-known rappers, comes in with a raspy delivery that moves between quiet, close-up singing, wide belting and a sharp rap verse. The song arrives days after his own single Lesa, which leaned further into rock over a trap beat, so the pair of releases shows him pulling in two directions at once this autumn.
The two have worked together before, which is why Scene Noise describes this as a reunion, though it does not list their earlier tracks. No label or release details were given in the report.
If you want to hear it, search for Ya Bent El Maganeen under Hussein Yasser or Abyusif on the usual streaming apps; the Arabic title is يا بنت المجانين. Neither artist has announced a Cairo show linked to the song so far.
