How to apply for UTH Festival's open call for new artists by 12 November
UTH Festival, SceneNoise and Nescafé On-The-Go are looking for independent rappers, singers and bands. Ten acts will play the festival at the Grand Egyptian Museum on 20 and 21 November.
UTH Festival, which takes over the Grand Egyptian Museum on 20 and 21 November with Trevor Noah at the top of its bill, has opened a call for new independent music acts. It is run with the music site SceneNoise and Nescafé On-The-Go, and ten of the acts who apply will perform at the festival across its two days. Entries close on 12 November, so there is less than a week. Here is how to apply.
Check that you fit
the call is open to rappers, singers, solo musicians and full bands from the region's independent and underground scene. The organisers have not published an age limit in the announcement, but they ask for your age, so read the regulations before you send.
Record your video
film a performance of 60 to 90 seconds. Pick the song that shows your sound best and keep within the time; a clean live take usually says more than a heavily edited clip.
Prepare your details
you will be asked for your name, your age, your artist name, your social media handles and a short overview of your sound. Write the overview before you start the form, in two or three plain sentences.
Find the form
the application link and the full regulations are in the link in UTH Festival's Instagram bio. The announcement does not give a separate website address.
Send it before the deadline
submissions close on 12 November. The organisers have not given a closing time, so do not leave it to the last evening.
Know what is at stake
ten selected acts play live at UTH Festival on 20 and 21 November. The winner gets a professionally produced music video, full studio and production support, and introductions to people in the industry. The jury has not been announced yet, and the organisers say more prizes may follow.
Selected acts will hear from the organisers before the festival; the announcement does not say how or when results will be shared, so keep an eye on UTH Festival's Instagram after 12 November.
