News8OctoberFitch Ratings has affirmed Egypt's credit rating at B and kept the outlook stable, the Ministry of Finance said on Thursday 8 October.
In its statement the ministry said the economy had again shown it can adapt to and absorb shocks despite turmoil in the region. It put growth at 5.1 percent for the 2025/2026 fiscal year, led by manufacturing, telecommunications and information technology. The primary surplus reached 4.9 percent of GDP and the overall deficit fell to 5.8 percent. Tax revenue rose 27 percent, which the ministry said came without new tax burdens, and private investment grew by about 65 percent.
The ministry described the cost of servicing debt as the biggest remaining challenge and said it expects that bill to fall as interest rates come down. Its medium-term plan is to lengthen debt maturities and widen the range of instruments and investors.
Local outlets also reported that Fitch expects fuel prices in Egypt to rise again in the last quarter of 2026.
