Capital train LRT now runs until midnight, with trains every 20 minutes late
The light rail between Adly Mansour and the New Administrative Capital has a new timetable: first trains at 6am, a last late train at 11:40pm reaching Badr around midnight, and shorter waits after 9pm.
The operator of Metro Line 3 and the light rail (LRT) has brought in a new timetable for the capital train, Youm7 reported on 24 October. From Sunday to Thursday the first trains leave Adly Mansour and the City of Arts and Culture stations at 6am, the last regular trains leave both ends at 11:20pm, and one extra late train leaves at 11:40pm, reaching Badr station at about midnight.
Waits get shorter in the evening: after 9pm trains now come every 20 minutes instead of every 30. The afternoon peak runs from 2pm to 6pm on weekdays. On Fridays trains run from 6am to 11:20pm, about every 20 minutes for most of the day. On Saturdays the first train leaves Adly Mansour at 6am and the City of Arts and Culture at 6:05am, the peak runs from 2:30pm to 6pm, and the last train leaves at 11:40pm.
If you commute between East Cairo, Obour, Badr, 10th of Ramadan or the New Capital, you can now stay out later and still catch a train home. Plan around the 11:40pm last departure, and note that Friday has no extra late train in the published timetable. Ticket prices were not part of the change.
