Shoppers at Nile City Towers Mall on the Corniche can now buy small gold and silver bars from a vending machine. Bullion company BTC has installed the machine as its first in Egypt and describes it as its formal move into automated retail in the country.

The machine sells gold bars from 0.25 grams to 2.5 grams and silver bars from 5 grams to 100 grams, along with a selection of gold and silver coins. Payment is by bank card. Prices were not given in the announcement.

BTC says it began testing the machines in 2025 in Gulf markets and with a trial in Egypt, and that the Nile City unit marks the start of the official launch. Chief executive Hassan Nassar said the step is part of a plan to offer more ways of buying its gold and silver products.

No other locations in Egypt have been announced so far.
