Two new casual spots: Batch in Palm Hills, LTL Eatery at Park St. East
Batch Sandwich Shop is now open on ST.88 in Palm Hills, 6th of October, and Eatery has opened LTL, a coffee, breakfast and pastry spin-off, at Park St. East in New Cairo.
Two new casual places opened on opposite sides of Cairo this week, both built around the kind of meal people grab between errands: a sandwich in the west, coffee and pastries in the east. SceneEats reported both openings, Batch on 3 November and LTL on 1 November.
Batch Sandwich Shop has opened on ST.88 in Palm Hills, 6th of October. The menu is short and sandwich-led. Batchin' Eggs and Bacon puts scrambled eggs, bacon and cheddar with a whipped scallion cream cheese; Good Chick is crispy fried chicken with pink sauce, mozzarella and Parmigiano Reggiano; BEEF with ME? is a veal Milanese with rocket and Dijon mayo; and Quack Quack is built on shredded duck. On the side there are popcorn chicken, hash browns and corn ribs, and the drinks list is coffee and matcha. ST.88 is one of the strips that has turned Palm Hills into a place people drive to from Sheikh Zayed and October for breakfast and lunch.
Across the city, Eatery, the New Cairo restaurant known for a long menu that runs from Egyptian to Japanese, Italian and Indian dishes, has opened a smaller, more casual concept called LTL Eatery at Park St. East. LTL keeps to a narrow brief: coffee, breakfast, brunch and pastries, the daytime side of the original. Park St. East is one of New Cairo's newer outdoor strips of cafes and restaurants.
Neither place has published its prices or opening hours in what has been reported so far, and no phone numbers or booking details were given. Both are walk-in places by nature, so the easiest plan is to go in the morning or at lunch: Batch is on ST.88 inside Palm Hills, 6th of October, and LTL Eatery is at Park St. East in New Cairo.
