Banque du Caire to list 30% on the Egyptian Exchange, with a public tranche
Banque Misr will sell 30% of Banque du Caire in an offering that includes a tranche for individual investors in Egypt, aimed for late October or November.
Banque du Caire said on Sunday in a statement on its website that it plans to list on the Egyptian Exchange through the sale of a 30% stake by Banque Misr, which owns the bank. The bank aims to complete the subscription and start trading at the end of October or during November 2026, subject to approval from the Financial Regulatory Authority and other regulators.
The offering has two parts: a public tranche for individual investors in Egypt, and a private placement for qualified investors in several countries, including qualified institutional buyers in the United States. CI Capital and EFG Hermes are handling the promotion and underwriting, and Baker McKenzie is legal adviser to the bank and the selling shareholder.
Chief executive Hussein Abaza called the offering a milestone for the bank, which plans to keep growing its retail, corporate, small business and microfinance lending. The listing has been expected for years and was postponed several times.
For individual investors, the share price, the minimum subscription and the exact subscription dates have not been announced yet. They are expected once the Financial Regulatory Authority approves the offering and the prospectus is published.
