5 Cairo events to put in your calendar for the rest of October
From Downtown art festivals to show jumping at the Pyramids and a cheese festival in Zamalek, here are five dates worth planning around this month.
October is one of Cairo's busiest months for culture. These five events run in or near the city over the coming weeks; dates and prices are from the organisers' own announcements.
1. D-CAF, Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival: from 11 October to 1 November across Downtown venues including Rawabet, the Falaki Theatre and Studio Emad Eddin. Tickets are mostly 100 to 300 pounds and several talks are free.
2. Cairo International Art District (CIAD 06): Art D'Egypte's sixth edition runs from 11 October to 8 November in buildings and streets across Downtown Cairo.
3. Arab Music Festival: the 34th edition plays the Cairo Opera House stages from 20 to 30 October, dedicated this year to Hany Shaker. The line-up has changed several times, so check the Opera's schedule before buying.
4. Longines Global Champions Tour: international show jumping comes to the Giza Pyramids from 22 to 24 October, the tour's first stop in Egypt.
5. Egyptian Cheese Festival: from 28 to 31 October at Horreya Garden in Zamalek, near Opera metro station. Entry is 20 pounds and parking 30 pounds.
Checked on 9 October 2026. Programmes can change, so confirm with each organiser before you go.
